If cost is a difficulty please speak with Angela.
Tuning into Kids was developed by the University of Melbourne to help families and other settings such as schools support kids to manage difficult feelings better. Parents learn skills to teach their kids healthy ways of recognising, understanding and acting on feelings- in themselves and others.
These skills are often called ‘emotional intelligence’, and research shows they are really important for kids. Children with higher emotional intelligence:
enjoy greater success with making friends and managing conflict with peers
have better concentration, so they are more likely to succeed academically
are more able to self soothe when upset or angry
tend to have fewer childhood illnesses
have more stable and satisfying relationships as adults; and
have greater career success ...emotional intelligence may be a better predictor of academic and career success than IQ!
At Mudgee Therapy Room, we use resources from Tuning in to Teens together with the Tuning in to Kids resources throughout the course, to support parents with kids of all ages. We get great feedback from parents, carers and those working with children about Tuning in to Kids- those who attend the course report finding the ideas and skills helpful, for themselves and their kids.
