PLEASE NOTE: Currently (Autumn 2023) my appointment availability is very limited due to a high demand for counselling in the local area. It would be appreciated if all enquiries are directed to my email angelajeanmiddleton@gmail.com rather than telephone. Clients with Victims' Services are advised that contacting Victims Services directly to request a Victims Services Telehealth counsellor will provide a more timely service.
Current clients are reminded that anyone who has had cold or flu symptoms in the last 7 days and has not received a negative COVID test result, or anyone with current cold and flu symptoms, must not attend the room for individual or group work, and instead should contact me via email or SMS prior to the appointment to arrange for a telephone or teleconference appointment.
About Angela I am a qualified Social Worker with ten years' experience working with adults, children and young people, who seek the support of counselling in moving forward at challenging times in their lives. I have particular experience supporting people of all ages who are recovering from trauma, and their families. (Trauma may include difficult or painful relationships, loss of significant people, domestic violence, sexual abuse, frightening situations, for example).
Counselling is a safe place where you will be listened to and encouraged. Some people whose current situation or memories of events are painful or overwhelming may be worried about the pace of counselling- or being asked to explore too much before they are ready. Others may be worried about being asked to focus on or explore the past when their priority at the moment is the issues of the present. To ensure counselling is a safe experience and that it addresses your needs and goals, I negotiate the pace of the work and the areas and priority of focus with each individual. There is no set number of sessions, and each client makes appointments according to their needs.
When working with a child or young person, I will recommend support for the child or young person's carers as well. This enables some of the particular assistance and support the child or young person may need to be continued into the week between sessions, and provides parents or carers the opportunity to discuss concerns and ideas they may have.
I am a facilitator for Tuning in to Kids™ and Tuning in to Teens™, a program for parents, carers and others who work with children and young people. Tuning in to Kids™/Teens™ helps children learn to understand and regulate their emotions, by giving parents know- how in 'emotion coaching' their children. This particular kind of support enables parents to develop 'emotional intelligence' in their kids- skills which help kids to feel better, get along with others better, learn better, and even enjoy better physical health. While Tuning in to Kids can be taught individually, it is designed as a group for parents and carers. Groups are offered through the year. More information and the opportunity to register your interest is available on our Tuning in to Kids page.
Availability I currently work Tuesdays, Wednesdays and alternate Thursdays/Fridays. Limited after school and after hours appointments are available. There is no reception area at the room and clients attend the room by appointment only. Please arrive no earlier than your scheduled appointment time.
Fees These depend on the service provided and the length of the appointment. Current fees applicable will be discussed prior to the service being provided. For eligible approved clients who are seen under the Approved Counselling Scheme- Victims' Services no fee is payable.
Contacting Angela You are welcome to contact me via email at angelajeanmiddleton@gmail.com and this is my preferred contact method. Should you prefer to call or text me, my number is 0412 159 591. Should I be unavailable when you call, please leave your contact details clearly so I can call you back- I recommend confirming your enquiry via text or email as voice messages are sometimes hard to decipher. You may like to speak with me on the phone or at the room to ask any questions you may have prior to deciding whether you would like to book a counselling appointment, and to discuss whether counselling may assist you. Please make a time with me in advance if you would like to speak with me at the room to avoid disrupting other work there.
At present I have a number of clients on my waitlist and I encourage anyone requiring counselling to explore alternative options. To discuss being added to my waitlist please email me in the first instance- angelajeanmiddleton@gmail.com. As I am unable to provide an accurate estimate of when I will be able to provide an initial appointment, I request that all clients who are placed on the waitlist continue to pursue alternative counselling practitioner options with a view to obtaining a more timely service. There is significant demand for counselling services in Mudgee at present and you may wish to consider support via Telehealth.
